Tuesday Morning Keynote:
Dr. Dileep Bhandarkar, Architect-at-Large, Digital Enterprise Group, Intel
The PC was first introduced 25 years ago. Over that time microprocessor performance has grown at a tremendous rate. Over the last few years, power has grown rapidly too and it has become a major issue. The challenge today is how to deliver increased performance within existing power constraints. Intel® Core™ Microarchitecture has been able to achieve significant performance improvement over previous products while reducing power appreciably at the same time.
This talk will provide a historical perspective and cover some of the major innovations in the Intel® Core™ Microarchitecture including the advanced power management features. The talk will also cover some of the challenges for continued delivery of energy efficient performance and some of the techniques being explored.
