Telco TV and Energy Conservation to Drive Powerline’s Growth
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., January 13, 2009 -
Service providers are increasingly driving the broadband powerline networking equipment market, helping to push growth over 50% in 2008, reports In-Stat http://www.in-stat.com . However, governments are looking for ways to make their current power generation grid and assets suffice without building additional generation plants, which may become a significant driver for powerline technology in the near future, the high-tech market research firm says.
“While powerline retail markets will suffer with a global recession, less impact will be felt from the service provider and utility sectors, resulting in continued growth through 2012,” says Joyce Putscher, In-Stat analyst.
Recent research by In-Stat found the following:
Worldwide equipment shipments based on Home-Plug and non-HomePlug broadband powerline approached 10 million units in 2007.
Devolo AG again ranked number one in worldwide annual equipment market shares.
Governments in Europe, China, and the US have all set aside funding for smart grid applications.
