In-Stat Makes Marked Investment in Consulting Practice with Hiring of New Managing Director

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 8, 2006 – High-tech market research firm In-Stat (http://www.in-stat.com) announces the launch of In-Stat Consulting and the appointment of Charles Gerlach to act as the company's Managing Director for Consulting.

The establishment of In-Stat Consulting aims to further extend In-Stat's custom-tailored offerings which are built upon the firm's ongoing syndicated research in Service Provider Markets, Wireless, Multimedia, Business and Residential Networks, Service Provider Infrastructure Semiconductors, and Business Segmentation and Vertical Markets. This newly-enhanced arm of In-Stat's research practice will deliver objective, actionable advice tailored to the particular business needs of In-Stat's clients. In-Stat combines a unique mix of technical expertise and market insights derived from extensive, on-going research into technology markets and end-user needs to help business decision makers better understand and effectively address these evolving markets.

To lead its consulting practice, In-Stat has hired Charles Gerlach as Managing Director for Consulting. Gerlach began his consulting career with Gemini Consulting where he was research manager and later group manager for its "C4 Lab" Strategic Research Group. Later, he was a Director at Mainspring, a venture capital-backed strategy firm that was acquired by IBM in 2001. At IBM, Gerlach was Global Communications Sector Lead at the IBM Institute for Business Value. Most recently, Gerlach has been an independent consultant focused on emerging technology, telecom, and new business models.

Charles, who holds a BA from Harvard College and a JD from Harvard Law School, will be based in Chicago.

"Throughout his consulting career, Charles has been focused on bridging the gap between traditional management consulting and research," says John Dinsdale, In-Stat's Vice President for Research. "We are pleased to have him here to help us build a consulting offering that is more closely aligned with the ongoing research efforts of our core research services so that we can maximize the value that we deliver to our clients."

"I am excited by the challenges of growing a consulting practice within a world-class technology market research firm like In-Stat," says Gerlach. "In-Stat Consulting allows us to further enhance the value that we deliver to our customers, by tailoring our research capabilities to meet their specific needs."
