Lenovo is considered by many as the largest in the world for PC manufacturing but this was not always the case.

Lenovo is a Chinese multinational company with two different headquarters in Hong Kong, China, and North Carolina. It was founded in 1984 which makes it older than some of the household tech brands like Huawei which was founded in 1987 and HTC which was founded in 1997.

Before it was Lenovo, the brand was called New Technology Developer Inc. After a few years, this non-innovative name was substituted for Legend and in 2003, after unanimously agreeing that the name, Legend was too common a name for an international brand, the word Lenovo was coined; Le from ‘Legend’ and ‘Novo’ which means ‘New’. So basically, Lenovo means new Legend.

Lenovo laptops were awarded best laptop brand for the year 2018 by Laptop Mag and have won numerous Editors’ choice awards with their ThinkPad Carbon obtaining a 5-star rating.

From their days of very little beginnings, Lenovo has come to be respected among other major names in the PC industry and this article, we explore some of the reasons why.

Merits and Demerits & Major Areas Of Strenght in Lenovo

To have made that steady but sure climb to the top, Lenovo especially in their laptop brands have done some things right and have also stumbled once or twice along the way.

Merits
1. Low prices-

While some brands might require you to break the bank to get a decent laptop, Lenovo offers you a very good PC for less as their prices start from $600.

For gamers, it is possible to get a laptop with several hundred gigs of SSID storage and a graphics card with as little as $1600 and their Lenovo Thinkpad series which is their business line is sold at a steal.

Demerits –
  1. Poor Customer Service – Across platforms, report of poor customer service associated with the brand is embarrassing and they have surely lost a few loyal as a result.

Is Lenovo Better Than Acer

source

While both Lenovo and Acer have amazing qualities, if you are in the market to buy a laptop but unsure of which brand to use, I think the brand you eventually go for will depend a lot on what you prioritize and a couple of other factors like your budget, the size, the style and weight.

Although the Lenovo brand is a much bigger brand than Acer, it doesn’t diminish the quality of Acer products.

Budget –

If you had to go for a laptop that has almost the same features between the two brands but on a tight budget, Acer would be the brand to choose and although Lenovo laptops are quite affordable, Acer laptops are even more slightly affordable.

Durability and Design-

Acer laptops have a more fragile look when placed side by side with their Lenovo counterparts. Lenovo laptops are more durable and better in quality and design and although the Acer Switch 7 which is essentially a 3-in-1 laptop as it can function as a laptop, desktop or a tablet, is giving Lenovo a run for their money, Lenovo is up to the task as they have always been in the forefront of cutting edge hardware being the first to introduce features such as 360 degrees turning and ergonomic mice at the centre of the keyboard.

Gaming –

While the Lenovo Legion Y700 is a very good gaming laptop, Acer is still better at building gaming laptops than Lenovo is at least for now.

Both Acer and Lenovo offer a variety of options to fit into any setting – school, business or just entertainment but some of us at in-stat will go for Lenovo most of the time.

Is Lenovo Laptop Better Than HP Laptop?

The HP (Hewlett-Packard) brand has become a household name in the laptop scene. From 2007 – 2013, HP maintained the award for the world’s leading PC manufacturer before handing over to Lenovo but as of 2019, they have reclaimed their position.

In terms of which laptop is the best, just like we pointed out for the comparison with Acer, we have to put a couple of things into consideration –

Budget –

The HP laptops are pricey and although they offer good value for your money. With HP, the more you are willing to pay, the better the processor.

if you are on a tight budget, the Lenovo brand is the way to go.

Innovation –

HP is the first brand to introduce the first-ever leather laptop in the world with their Spectre Folio, eliminating sharp edges and although Lenovo also holds it’s own as it is the first brand to include HDR displays within their computers in 2018.

Overall, The HP brand is more daring when it comes to design, graphics and sound quality. their HP Omen 17 comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU as well as a 4k display option. The Lenovo brand, however, promises a more practical, portable feel and a better battery life all on a budget.
