One AirPod Not Charging – Easy Steps To Fix This Problem FasterFor listening to music or making calls, everyone loves AirPods. AirPods deliver great sound quality. There is a possibility, however, that left or right AirPods will stop charging. The listening experience is thus compromised. Apple AirPods can also malfunction just like any other electronic device.
You don’t need to panic if you’ve got Apple AirPods that don’t charge. The issue turns out to be pretty common and there are a bunch of easy fixes you can do.
The most likely cause of a non-charging AirPod is a dirty AirPod port and charging case. Clean the bottom of your AirPod and the bottom of the charging port with a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
Most people can get great results by simply cleaning their AirPods and cases. But if that doesn’t work, there are still other fixes to apply. Before visiting an Apple store, try these solutions below.

One AirPod Not Charging – Clean your AirPods’ charging ports and bottom
The AirPod’s case wirelessly charges them inside, which makes them super versatile. There are two cells within your case, each with a capacity of 1.98 Watt hours.
AirPods are charged directly via two small metal contacts at the bottom of the charging port when you place the AirPod into the charging case.
The case must be directly connected to the AirPod to pass the charge. If this connection is disrupted, the charging will not work.
You may be experiencing trouble charging one AirPod due to dirt, grime and earwax buildup inside its charging port.
To clean your AirPods, wipe the bottom metal ring with a Q-tip. Then, clean out the charging port in your charging case. Ensure the entire bottom is cleaned.
A little isopropyl alcohol can be added to the end of the Q-tip for a really deep clean. Apple is okay with this.
For better visibility, I recommend using a flashlight or the flash on your phone. Ensure that the connection points are clean and you should be able to eliminate this problem.
Charging cables certified by Apple are recommended
There are many expensive cables, chargers, and other accessories in Apple’s walled-garden of products.
Totally understand the urge to buy a charging cable or wireless charging dock for your AirPods that is half the price, just ensure it’s Apple certified!
You are likely to get a poorly made, or a counterfeit, cable if you buy it from Amazon, or at the mall. The price is always the determining factor in quality.
There is a separate section on Apple’s support site that warns customers against these counterfeit parts, warning that they pose a safety risk to you as well as your Apple products.
It is very likely that the reason for one AirPod not charging fully is that you are using a cheap charging cable.
Get the correct cable for the extra 10-15 dollars. If you are unsure that this might be the cause of your charging issues, have a friend lend you their authentic AirPod charger!
Make sure your AirPods are fully charged
You should charge your AirPods completely using a certified Apple charger. Both AirPods and their case will have a 100% charge!
The lower the charge gets on your AirPods, the harder it will be for them to keep a steady connection. Even worse, problems can arise when the charge is below 20%.
Getting your AirPods fully charged will take a few hours (obviously it depends on how charged they were to begin with), but it’s totally worth it.
The majority of people will resolve the one AirPod not charging issue by cleaning their AirPods, using a Certified Charging Cable, and fully charging the AirPods.
One AirPod Not Charging – The AirPods should be reset
There are several steps involved in fully resetting your AirPods. The charging issue you’re experiencing may be resolved by resetting your AirPods and reconnecting.
1We recommend you “Forget This Device” as a starting point. Here are the steps:
1. Navigate to Settings
2. Choose Bluetooth from the menu
3. To get info about your AirPods, click the info icon
4. Choose “Forget This Device”
5. You’ll be able to remove your AirPods from your phone after this
The AirPods will have to be synced anew after they’ve been removed.
The following steps will help you re-pair your AirPods:
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your phone
Open the charging case and place both AirPods inside
The AirPod charging case status light will blink white when you press and hold the button on the back of it.
On your phone, you’ll see your AirPods. Tap “Connect”.
It’ll take a few seconds for your AirPods to connect, but once they do, you’re done!
Once you complete this process, your AirPods will be reset completely and you will be able to reconnect to your phone.
In case one AirPod still won’t charge after your first reset, repeat the process from start to finish at least one more time.
You may have to do up to three full resets, so don’t give up after the first one.
Update the firmware of your AirPods
Apple regularly updates the firmware of its AirPods. This is akin to your headphones’ operating system.
In addition to bug fixes, some improvements are also incorporated into this “operating system.”
AirPods receive firmware updates automatically, unlike your iPhone, which you can update by clicking a button. Even so, make sure you have the newest version of AirPods.
1. Navigate to Settings
2. Choose Bluetooth from the menu
3. To find out more about your AirPods, click the info icon
4. Scroll down. Versions are listed below
Put your AirPods in their case, plug the case into its charger, and ensure that your iPhone is nearby if you think your AirPods are out of date. Hopefully your AirPods will be updated.
One AirPod Not Charging – Change one AirPod
It’s an unfortunate truth of life that very few of you will be able to fix your charging issue and will instead have to get a replacement.
Despite the fact that many AirPods owners can repair their earbuds, there are still quite a few people who are not as lucky.
If you want to get a completely new set of AirPods, here are some things you should do:
Take your AirPods to an Apple store to verify your warranty.
Buying an entire set of earbuds if one is broken is not necessary.
Your warranty covers the cost of a repair or replacement if you’ve owned your AirPods for less than a year!
On Apple’s website, if you’ve had the device for over a year, you can purchase a replacement. Standard AirPods cost about $70 and AirPods Pro cost about $90 per earbud.
The solution isn’t exactly cheap, but it’s certainly better than buying a brand new set of AirPods.
